Applications
Power cable for fixied installations. Suitable for use in industrial settings (mining, pulp and paper, among others) connecting medium-voltage variable frequency drive (VFD) equipment. Installable underground, buried in ducts, conduits, cable trays, or outdoors. Follow the VFD equipment manufacturer´s cable selection recommendations for optimal system performance.
Construction: Multiconductor cable with individual and group shielding.
Conductor: Stranded soft copper conductor, concentrically compacted. Class B according to ASTM B-3, ASTM B-8, ASTM B-496, ICEA S-93-639 for AWG and kcmil sizes. Class 2 according to IEC 60228 for sizes in standard mm² sections.
Conductor Screen: Extruded semiconductive material.
Insulation: Cross-linked Polyethylene Tree Retardant (XLPE-TR) or Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE) insulation with excellent electrical properties and good resistance to ozone and chemical agents.
Insulation Screen: Extruded semiconductive material.
Insulation and semiconductives applied in a triple extrusion process.
Individual Metallic Shield: Copper tape helically applied over the triple extrusion with a nominal overlap of 12%.
Ground Conductors: Three bare copper conductors, flexible class 5 according to IEC 60228, in direct contact with individual metallic shields.
Filling: Halogen-free polyolefin.
Group Metallic Shield: Copper tape helically applied over the filling with a nominal overlap of 12%, and copper wires over the tape.
Jacket: Low-fire-hazard polyolefin (LFH), flame retardant, non-propagating, low smoke emission, and low toxicity. Resistant to weathering and UV radiation. Color upon request.
Labeling: NEXANS CHILE FREETOX-VDF "size" "Voltage" Cu XLPE "nominal insulation thickness" (1) 90°C "Fab. Order" "Date"
(1) Information on nominal insulation thickness on the label applies only to cables according to ICEA S-93-639.
INSTALLATION CONDITIONS FOR CURRENT CARRYING CAPACITIES_MV MULTI-CORE CABLES
(1) Current carrying capacities based on NEC/NFPA 70 for installations were ducts and cables are not directly exposed to solar radiation.
De-rating factors must be applied according to specific instalation conditions.
