We promote copper recycling in our operations

Jul 15, 2024

This year at Madeco by Nexans, we celebrate 80 years of history and we are one of the few companies in Chile that adds value to copper. For this reason, for a few years now we have been promoting the recycling of copper to contribute to environmental care and to reducing the carbon footprint associated with the manufacturing of these elements.

"This initiative to recycle copper in our San Miguel plant was born five years ago. What we did was buy a machine that separates the copper from the plastic of the electrometric conductors that are out of use or that are left over from our partners or strategic clients," said our general manager Camilo Elton.

Advancing the circularity of copper will be a significant contribution, but it must be done by guaranteeing the quality of the material, which will contribute to the conservation and reuse of resources, in addition to the reduction of waste. Given this, it is important to indicate that our recycling processes do not cause the loss of the electrical properties of the material.

At Madeco by Nexans, we reaffirm our commitment to being a company that provides products with high quality standards to continue contributing to the construction of a sustainable energy future.

“ This commitment to recycling not only promotes sustainability, but also reflects a bold vision for a responsible future. Harnessing copper's potential means adopting sustainable practices that build a more electric future, where recycling and energy efficiency are key ”
