Santiago, March 16, 2023 – Madeco by Nexans, a leading provider of cable technology solutions, is launching Nexans Fire Safety, a complete offer encompassing state-of-the art fire protection cabling solutions, including smart packaging, as well as premium services and digital tools.
Structural fires are an important part of the calls to Firefighters in Chile. According to the National Emergency Office of the Ministry of the Interior (ONEMI), in 2021 there were 10,195 fires of this type, which represented 65% of the total cases in the country. Under this scenario, Nexans Fire Safety is an advanced offer specifically designed to anticipate fire risks, secure assets and protect life.
Madeco by Nexans steps up as the key Fire Safety partner for the construction industry
As global energy demand continues to grow, the rise of new energy usages in building (such as electric vehicles or rooftop solar panels) increases the burden on domestic wiring systems and the risks related to fire. As part of its ambition to electrify the world of tomorrow, Madeco by Nexans is committed to empowering customers and partners to design and build safe and sustainable electrification, supporting them at every step of their project lifecycle.

Miguel Fernandez, Commercial Manager of Madeco by Nexans, explains: “Within Nexans, we are committed with a safer and sustainable electrification. Those of us who are part of the electrical sector and work in construction have to be aligned with this purpose, to resort to the best tools and protect the safety of people in case of fire, an accident that affects many homes in our country. Here, it is essential that from the companies we can contribute with innovative solutions according to the needs of our clients and aware of the impact on the environment.”
The Fire Safety offer is essential in large complex construction projects with high safety standards buildings like data centers, or public buildings such as hospitals, offices, schools, malls, hotels , as well as infrastructures like tunneling, rail and airport. It also addresses solar power systems, EV charging installations, and residential applications.
One of the recent projects featuring the new Fire Safety all-in-one offer is Territoria, the 200,000 m² flagship commercial property project in Santiago supervised by Fleischmann, Chile’s largest installer specialized in integration of electromechanical, security and communication systems. The project is at the pinnacle of technological and safety innovation, using geothermal energy for cooling processes.
“ Nexans is our Fire Safety partner today. And it works both ways, as we bring our experience, while Madeco by Nexans contributes with the innovations based on the installers’ experience. “Clearly, at present, working on safety is not considered spending, it is an investment. ”

Designed in the Group’s Innovation Center AmpaCity in France, within Nexans specialized Fire Lab, Nexans fire-resistant cables maintain electrical circuit integrity up to two hours. These cables are crucial to saving lives by allowing critical systems (such as emergency lighting, fire detection, warning systems, automatic doors, etc.) to function even in the event of a fire and facilitating a fast and secure evacuation. In parallel, Nexans low fire-hazard cable range allows to slow down fire spread and reduce potential flaming droplets, thus providing more time to escape, as well as a safer environment for rescue teams. Above all, these cables aim at limiting smoke release and acidity of emissions, as smoke inhalation is the most critical factor, being responsible for 80% of fire-related deaths.
